I’ve got my word.

Last year, instead of resolutions or goals, I picked a “word” for the year. For 2008, the word was “closure.” Looking back, 2008 was a year of closure, in many of the areas I listed.

This year? My word is “action.”

I’m taking action in a number of areas. Health, spiritual growth, career, home, finances . . .

I actually began last year, but I’m going to keep my momentum. I’ve got some posts drafted about things I “acted” on last year, and I’m sure I’ll write about my “actions” this year.

Next up?

On January 26th, when my GYN asks me if I’m finally “ready” to get rid of these stupid fibroid tumors once and for all, I’m going to say YES. I’m going to get OFF these iron supplements. I’m keeping my ovaries, but this uterus? Buh Bye.

As always, when faced with a problem, I’m seeking information. Anyone? I’m hoping for a laparoscopic hysterectomy, but with these fibroids, I’m not sure how that will work. I have a friend going in for one and SHE has fibroids, but she has many small ones and I have a few large ones. I’ll find out how many and how large they are THIS year at my annual sonogram.

Why am I taking action on this after so many years?

One. I’m done having kids.
Two. FirstHusband said, “If it was already over, you would have done it already.”

I get that. It’s the recovery I’m avoiding.

Not anymore. I’m taking action.

The funny thing? Independently, FirstHusband came up with his word. “Rest.”

Action and Rest. 2009 should be interesting.

  1. Oh I love your word, Julie!! Action!!

That is honestly a really big word when there has been complacency in ones life… I pointing the finger at myself on that one…ugh! Action is the opposite for sure!

    Excellent!

I was so inspired by your post from last year, that I went and prayed and asked God for a word for me this year…. and I “Freedom” was the word for 2009 for me…

  2. I have lots of words – but can’t pick one. Maybe my word should be “indecision”!!!!

Great choice of word for you, I look forward to reading you blog this year and seeing you “in action”!

  3. Great word! I’ll look forward to reading how you accomplish this in so many areas. Wish I could help you with the questions, but surgery is not my thing anymore.

As you know, my word for this year is “thrifty”. We’ll see if I can do 52 weeks of this!

  4. Great word! I’ll look forward to reading how you accomplish this in so many areas, and despite hubby’s word. Wish I could help you with the questions, but surgery is not my thing anymore.

As you know, my word for this year is “thrifty”. We’ll see if I can do 52 weeks of this! Glad DH’s word is not “extravagance”.

  5. Regarding recovery from a laproscopic removal of the uterus – I have a friend who went through this. There was discomfort but she was able to be up and around almost immediately after getting out of the hospital (she was in only overnight – her tumor was quite large). Of course no lifting of heavy objects, you also have to limit your activity for a short period of time. Perhaps the action you should take at this time is to rest.
